This newsletter arrived in my email today. I hope it inspires you as much as it did me. Solstice is only five months away. Although this letter is addressed to choir directors, I believe it applies to all of us who love to sing and believe in the power of music to foster peace.

Who’s Sponsoring Solstice Sing for Peace 2010?

We are!

I am grateful for the organizations and individuals who sponsored Solstice Sing for Peace in 2008 and 2009. Their donations provided goods for singers, services to keep SSP running (video, computer, business cards, etc) and cash to pay for mailings.

But when I think about it, sponsorships distract from the real purpose of Solstice Sing for Peace. This grassroots movement does not need donations of goods or services distributed around the world. Solstice Sing for Peace needs you and me!

Who’s sponsoring Solstice Sing for Peace 2010?
I am “sponsoring” a small gathering of loved ones singing on the New Hampshire coast. I’m not seeking goods or services. We only need our voices!

You can “sponsor” your event in whatever way you choose. If you create a public event and plan to invite thousands of people, your needs may be more complex. Sound equipment and venues do cost money. Consider singing in a public space, where permits and fees are not required, where you can raise your voices in peace, for peace, with neighbors, friends and complete strangers.

It's never too early to start planning your Solstice Sing for Peace event!

The next June solstice begins at 11:28a.m. UTC (universal time) on 21 June 2010.


At this time, summer will begin in the northern hemisphere...


... and winter will start in the southern hemisphere.

Join the Huntsville Area Friends Meeting (Quakers) in Singing and Chanting for Peace

The Huntsville, Alabama, USA Area Friends Meeting worship, singing or chanting for peace will take place during regular worship time from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. as Friends are led by the Spirit. There will be no programmed singing, but whatever comes forth from the Meeting will be something others in the room will be able to learn quickly and join in. Periods of song or chant will be brief, only a few minutes, and may occur several times during the worship period. Other than the singing/chanting, worship will be in silence in the tradition of Friends.

ALL ARE WELCOME to worship with Friends during this period.

Susan writes, "We are a small group, usually less than 14. We meet in a small room in The Storehouse where other congregations in other traditions may be meeting at the same time. Visitors should look for the Quaker signs and follow them to our meeting space located at the rear right corner of the building as one faces the front entrance of the Storehouse."

Sound Healers Ina Knoops, Erik en Yuma Block Blok zullen toetreden Solstice Zing voor de Vrede, een wereldwijde beweging voor vrede deze maandag, 22 juni, en je bent uitgenodigd. Kom naar Het Marbaixstraat 56-2060 Antwerpen en bijdragen tot een keten van het lied in de wereld.

Klankbad van Tibetaanse klankschalen, trommels, didjeridoo, regen stok, Shruti vak ocean drum, mono koorde, sansula, buis Chimes, adelaar bot fluit, in combinatie met boventoon zingen.

Het geluid voor genezing wordt voorafgegaan door een individuele uitstraling zuiveringen. Met een geïnspireerd geleide meditatie en een heilige tekst met de mantra "IK BEN" is het geluid voor genezing "voltooid.

Let op! Gezien de beperking van de 9 deelnemers vooraf inschrijven is noodzakelijk!
